Android is increasingly establishing themselves as a platform to be feared by the IOS. When the Sony Xperia Play was launched early last year, Gameloft gives their support to the mobile phone of Sony by releasing an exclusive game for the Android platform. The game is Backstab, an original game by Gameloft. This news could make me grumpy; for the first time Gameloft released a game that was not plagiarized large gaming consoles and they do not release it for IOS. It turned out that Gameloft has not forgotten its biggest market share really. A few months was released exclusively on the system, eventually throwing Backstab Gameloft for the IOS platform.

Henry Blake's life fall apart after he was betrayed by his best friend Kane. At first, he is a respectable British marines but after the betrayal he became a criminal prisoners sentenced to death. Luckily for Henry, before his execution could be a riot to make it back to his free life. 'Free' here of course does not mean making Henry's life back to normal. He is still a criminal hunted by the British marines. Henry's life transformed into a pirate. And in his heart there is only one feeling that raged, Revenge.

Backstab is like a combination of many aspects. Background as a pirate is something original from Gameloft. I applaud this one for developers who managed to exploit the genre that has never used someone else. Backstab however not only utilize the background of pirates alone but combine them with various aspects.

One of the most noticeable aspect is the Assassin's Creed in which Henry can climb almost any wall. It reminds me of Ezio or Altair. Obviously because the IOS is simple control so it is not as complicated as Assassin's Creed that uses a million buttons. Just so you know the hassle of Assassin's Creed is what makes me even today unwilling to touch a PC or console version better than the first, second, and the Brotherhood. Simplicity Backstab actually be a plus for me. Want to fight in combat? Button mashing will suffice. Want to climb the wall, ran toward the wall and automatically Henry will climb by itself. Simple, but also friendly to all types of gamers.

Meanwhile there are some areas that could be explored by Henry in his adventures from the bustling port city to rural pastures. Even more crazy again, Backstab dare enter the mystical elements in it kind of zombie.

After all, just because it stands as an original game, it doesn't mean, it is free from any imperfection. Control that I mentioned earlier is a simple and intuitive but not perfect. Often times when jumping and hanging from cliffs Henry doing wrong step and jump to his death, even though I swore was pointing in the right direction. Worse is the viewpoint of a camera that rotates on its own rather follow the movement of Henry, Gameloft may want to give a dynamic camera movement, but often I even have to rearrange the cameras just to see where I should move next. Speaking of where I have to move, this game has the same error with a continuous Shadow Guardians 'lead' gamers where they should move with fluorescent yellow checkpoint. It does help navigation but also make lazy gamers to explore themselves.

The quality of graphics and cool sounds of Backstab. I was struck with graphics that rival the quality of games on Nintendo 64. If you compare this game with open world games by Gameloft previous: Gangstar 2: Miami Vindication seen that the graphics leap far enough. Backstab the equivalent of new games by Gameloft releases are optimized for the latest IOS devices. Do not expect to play this game for the iPhone 3G down versioned. The sound quality is quite good with a variety of British accents, but overall is still below my level of voice acting from the Sacred Odyssey.
